Selon les résultats d’une enquête réalisée auprès de 250.000 personnes par une quinzaine de groupes audiovisuels européens dont France Télévision, en collaboration avec les organisateurs du Concours Eurovision de la chanson, les jeunes de moins de 34 ans seraient « particulièrement ouverts à la diversité sexuelle » et tout à fait « à l’aise avec l’homosexualité ».
14% des sondés déclarent notamment avoir déjà eu des « rapports intimes » avec un partenaire du même sexe, et un sur cinq admet une réelle attirance et vouloir tenter « l’expérience ».
De même, la majorité (à 81%) indique n’avoir aucun problème avec les marques d’affections et le fait qu’un couple homosexuel s’embrasse publiquement, et plus de la moitié (à 54%) affirment avoir des « amis proches » d’une orientation sexuelle différente.

Ils sont également (et à 40%) plus réceptifs aux relations avec « plus d’un partenaire » : 11% auront d’ailleurs pratiqué. Mais ils assurent ne s’être jamais engagés (à 79%) dans des « histoires » d’amour avec plusieurs personnes simultanément.
En revanche, et toutes confessions confondus, ils sont désabusés par les doctrines et croyances religieuses et avouent à 82% pouvoir s’en passer.
L’étude a été conduite sous l’égide de l’Union européenne de radio-télévision, avec la participation de la Bart’s Neverending Network (Pays-Bas), la Bayerischer Rundfunk, la Südwest Fernsehen et Zweites Deutsches Fernsehen (Allemagne), la Radio et Télévision Tchèque, l’Ellinikí Radiofonía Tileórasi (Grèce), France Télévisions, l’Österreichischer Rundfunk (Autriche), la RAI (Italie), la RTBF et la VRT (Belgique), la Raidió Teilifís Éireann (Irlande), RTVE (Espagne) ou encore la Sianel Pedwar Cymru (S4C – Pays de Galles).

>> Hundreds of thousands of young Europeans have taken part in a EU-wide poll – and it’s found a lot more are open to gay sex than you might have expected.
The Generation What poll was recently launched by 15 European broadcasters in collaboration with the organisers of Eurovision, the European Broadcasting Union.
It looks at the views of young people under the age of 34 across the EU, with more than 250,000 people taking part so far and answering questions about their views, opinions and personal lives.
As well as some of the more wild statistics – apparently 7 percent of young people have smoked a joint with their parents – the poll provides a surprisingly detailed view of sexuality across Europe.
The poll found that among the younger generation, sexual diversity is widely accepted across national boundaries – despite a growing divide on LGBT rights.

Young people are fine with seeing gays kissing. More than half of them have friends of a different sexual orientation. They’re also open about relationships or sex with more than one person. And they mostly don’t see the value in religious doctrine.
The 15 broadcasters taking part are BNN (Netherlands), BR (Germany), Czech Radio (Czech Republic), Czech Television (Czech Republic), ERT (Greece), France Télévisions (France), ORF (Austria), RAI (Italy), RTBF (Belgium), RTE (Ireland), RTVE (Spain), S4C (Wales), SWR (Germany), VRT (Belgium) and ZDF (Germany) – but you can take the poll from across Europe.
