Dans la soirée du 5 janvier dernier, une femme transgenre, coadministratrice notamment d’une page dédiée sur les réseaux à la promotion et la protection des droits de la communauté trans dans la province pakistanaise de Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, a été grièvement blessée par arme à feu, alors qu’elle circulait en voiture près d’un marché local, en compagnie de ses amies.
Les deux suspects, qui se déplaçaient en moto, ont été interpellés. Selon des témoignages anonymes recueillis par le quotidien pakistanais « The Express Tribune », ils menaçaient la victime depuis plusieurs mois déjà.
Transportée d’urgence dans un établissement hospitalier de Peshawar, le personnel, d’abord moqueur, avait refusé de prendre la jeune femme en charge pendant plusieurs heures, malgré son état critique, pour ne pas troubler les autres patients « en soignant une personne transgenre ».
« Nous avons été de nouveau confrontés à la discrimination », ont dénoncé dans un communiqué les membres de son groupe, préoccupés par cette agression vraisemblablement motivée par la haine : « Adnan avait déjà perdu beaucoup de sang. Elle était entre la vie et la mort. Nous sommes arrivés à l’hôpital autour de 21h30, et on lui aura prodigué les premiers soins vers 23h15. Et pourtant, selon les consignes de la Cour Suprême, lorsque le pronostic vital d’une personne est engagé, elle est prioritaire. »
Des abus dénoncés par le groupe, qui relèvent également l’indifférence édifiante des forces de police.

However, according to statements released through the groups Facebook page, the person was refused treatment for nearly two hours and was also subject to transphobic abuse from hospital staff and police.
“I have no words to share the hate and discrimination we faced in hospital today” the admin of the group said in a statement released on the groups Facebook page.
A member of the group, only referred to as Qamar, went into further detail when he explained to The Nation magazine.“Adnan was taken to Lady Reading Hospital where he was refused treatment.
“The doctors and police were laughing at us, while he was bleeding. We reached the place at 9:30pm and he got treatment at around 11:15pm. All this time no one was ready to attend him.
“We even reminded them the orders of the Supreme Court that a critical patient should be treated first later the police can follow up the case. But no one was ready to help.”
Unnamed witnesses spoke to The Express Tribune in Pakistan, claiming that two people on motorcycles opened fire on the car Adnan was travelling in with some friends.
According to the report in The Express Tribune, two suspects have been arrested and are suspected of threatening Adnan for several months prior to this incident.
